Cultural changes

One of our lessons we had a discussion about the changes of life in some area with Torbjorn. These were:

Family / Housing
Education / Job
Technology
International relations
Food culture

We analyzed it through three generations, and talked about our plans in the future, how we would like to do it.

About the familyMy grandparents had a long married life. My parents unfortunately divorced. And I hope, I will follow my grandparent’s pattern and I will have a long married life too.
But the question that we discussed: Why are things changing?
I thing the human life spells about changing. Each person in their own life is looking for values which are important. The last years the people wanted to find their identity. And therefore many times they mixed up the dependence and the pressure. Because they think if they have husband, or they have a child he/she depends on them. But this dependence is not a bad thing. In the human life there are a lot of things, which we depend on. The air, the water or when we born we depend on our mother, and when we will be old, we will depend on the pills, and the peoples who will take care of us. Why is a problem if I depend on my wife, my husband, my friends etc. This dependence is not a pressure. This is the human behavior. We are a common entity. We need to belong to someone. The solution of this problem could be, if the man who with me that man with who I would like to be. ?And this is a difficult question but maybe this is the reason why people go to second life, in that place it is easier to be a man who you want to be.

Education / Job
I think the education system changed a lot in the last years. And this is not only the technical changes. The goals of the education had changed as well. We have a lot of new tools, and theories how to teach. One of the problems could be the teacher’s behavior. How we teach teaching.
The other side of this topic is the job. Today the most preferred job is the manger position in Hungary. A lot of people would like to earn a lot of money with less work. If they manage to do this, would they learn to appreciate what they do? And if they have a lot of money, they don’t know what do with this. And change a lot of things in their environment. New shoes, clothes, new car, change boyfriend/girlfriend but they don’t feel happy. And they don’t understand why is so boring for them everything.

Technology
The technological development is faster and faster. And the new generation uses it a lot, but for the oldest it is not so easy because they never meet with this before, and they are not able to learn it. Some of them want to use it, and learn, but some of them think: “I have only few years left therefore I don’t want to learn new things.”

International relations
I think it is linked together with the technology because the technological advance indicates this possibility. We have Internet; we have airplane system so the distance is not a problem anymore. Earth will be smaller and smaller.

Food culture
Due to the medicine advance, it gets clear there are some unhealthy meals and it indicates a change in the food culture. It’s natural and inescapable but for example in Hungary, we have a lot of unhealthy traditional food and it could be a problem. What should we do now? Should we forget our traditions? I don’t know which the good way is.
